Creative Industries Creating Our Future

The Event Industry is one of Australia's many modern, innovation focused creative industries - creating real change across organisations, industries and communities.

We use creativity, design and technology to move people, shift thinking, launch ideas and bring industries together to act. This is what events do.

And we're in good company.

Experience design and service design. Product, spatial and industrial design. Creative technology and creative coding. Game technology and interactive media. Animation and visual effects. Advertising and experiential marketing. The creator economy. Multi-platform content and data visualisation. Architecture, computational design and digital twins. Placemaking and urban design.

These are commercial, innovation driven industries where creativity is applied to real business, government and community problems. They employ hundreds of thousands of people and generate billions in economic activity. They're the industries creating the future and taking people there.

The Event Industry sits right among them, and works with nearly all of them.

The overlap is huge.

So many of these design disciplines are used on events - experience design, spatial and environmental design, production design, data visualisation. Experiential marketing is largely delivered by event people, using event skills and event supply chains. The creator economy now merges with brand activations, with creator led events and live streaming built into event strategy. Game engines run real time event visuals and virtual production. Digital twins are used to model large events and venues before they are built. Creative technologists deploy projection mapping, LED, AR and VR in live environments. Placemaking happens through events, the laneway activation, the night market, the street festival.

The Event Industry is both a creative industry in its own right, and the place where many of these disciplines come together, live, in front of an audience.

This is where creativity meets innovation. It's also where a real part of Australia's productivity and economic future is being built.
